India exposed as cricket’s biggest frauds after WTC loss to Australia, last ICC title, Virat Kohli

India are the biggest powerhouse in the cricket world.

While the ICC may be the governing body, it’s the BCCI that wields the power stone and has the cricket world marching to their drum.

Unfortunately for all their power and the plethora of weapons they have at their disposal, they’ve failed to capitalise on the pitch.

The countries number one sport produces talent unlike any other nation the world over, yet despite that the trophy cabinet has been gathering nothing but dust for a decade.

The last time they cracked the cabinet open and put some fresh silverware on the shelf came back in 2013 when they reigned supreme during the ICC Champions Trophy.

Prior to that they won the World Cup in 2011, the T20I World Cup in 2007 and the Champions Trophy in 2002.

The horror dry patch continues after Australia proved too strong in the 2023 World Test Championship Final and now heaps pressure on them ahead of a home ODI World Cup later this year.

India’s nightmare 10-year drought has seen them go 0/4 when making finals of a tournament, while they’ve lost four times at the semi-final stage.

The Test Championship loss makes it two straight losses at the ultimate stage for Test cricket after being knocked over by New Zealand during the 2021 final.

Their other two finals losses came during the T20 World Cup in 2014 when Sri Lanka comfortably chased down their total.

In 2017 it was even uglier as Pakistan exploded with the bat to record a 180-run win after bowling India out for a paltry 158 runs.

The five ICC trophies has them second on the all time list, sitting equal with the West Indies and a long way behind Australia.

The World Test Championship became Australia’s ninth ICC trophy and their third in the past two years.

Aside from South Africa, every other nation to have won an ICC trophy have done what India have failed to do … hoist a trophy within the past decade.

New Zealand (2 ICC trophy’s) won the WTC Final in 2021, Sri Lanka (3) won the 2014 T20 World Cup, Pakistan (3) won the 2017 Champions Trophy, England (3) won the 2019 ODI World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup while the West Indies (5) won the 2016 T20 World Cup.

India will look to snap their ugly drought when they play host to the 2023 ODI World Cup which kicks off in early October.
