Sophie Turner: Emily Ratajkowski opens up about getting divorced young

Model Emily Ratajkowski has opened up about the reality of getting divorced and being single in her early thirties.

Ratajkowski, 32, seems to have just given a subtle nod of support towards newly single Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner in a candid TikTok.

It was announced earlier this week that actor Turner, 27 and musician Joe Jonas, who share two young daughters, were calling it quits after four years of marriage.

This week Miley Cyrus also shared the moment she knew it was time to call it quits with her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.

Cyrus was only 27 when the two called it a day and she shared in a TikTok that she realised it was over in 2018 during her concert at Glastonbury.

“The day of the show was the day I had decided that it was no longer going to work in my life to be in that relationship,” she said.

With young women getting divorced a bit of a trend in Hollywood, Ratajkowski has taken to social media to claim that getting divorced before 30 is nothing to be ashamed of, declaring it “chic”.

“It seems that a lot of ladies are getting divorced before they turn 30,” the model observed.

She then shared that she’d gotten married in her mid-20s and was separated by her 30s.

Ratajkowski was famously married to producer Sebastian Bear-Mcclard, and the two called it quits in 2022.

The pair share a young child together, and although Ratajkowski told The Los Angeles Times that she hadn’t spoken publicly about her divorce because she wanted to focus on her young son.

“I’m learning that outspoken women don’t often get their children,” she said.

Ratajkowski argued getting divorced young isn’t bad and even said it can be a good thing.

“Being in your 20s is the trenches,” she said.

The young mum said there is nothing better than being single in your 30s having a “little bit of money” and also being “still hot”.

She explained that it can be empowering to realise that the “married fantasy” actually isn’t “all it is cracked up to be”.

Ratajkowski said that in fact it can be a good thing to realise young because you still have your “whole life ahead of you”.

“For all those being stressed about being divorced, it’s good, and congratulations,” she said.
