A snake catching couple have been left hospitalised after being bitten by a deadly eastern brown snake in Queensland.
Tony and Brooke Harrison, who run Harrison’s Gold Coast and Brisbane Snake Catcher business, were reportedly both bitten when attempting to remove snakes in Logan, about 20km from Brisbane on Sunday afternoon.
The incident was live-streamed on their Facebook page but the video has since been taken down.
Ms Harrison told the Courier Mail her husband was bitten while holding two eastern brown snakes, the second-most venomous snakes in the world.
He was rushed to hospital in a serious but stable condition, where he remained on Monday.
In an update on Facebook on Monday morning, Mr Harrison said it had been a “rough 24 hours” and confirmed his wife has also been admitted.
“Things went south at 1am … Brooke has collapsed and [was] admitted at 5am.”
“My bloods are turning for the better now … at 6.30am.”
Many were quick to comment on the post, expressing concern for the couple, who share a son, and wish them well.
“Wishing you both a speedy recovery,” one person commented.
“Sending lots of healing vibes to you both,” said another.
It’s the second time Mr Harrison has been bitten by an eastern brown snake on a livestream.
In 2019, he suffered a venomless bite after trying to remove a snake from underneath an airconditioning unit in Pimpama.
“When I stuck my hand under there, its face was right there waiting for me,” he told Sunrise at the time.
“I’m very aware of the potential possibilities, so I was scared to say the least.”
“I was worried about not seeing my family again.”
