Shocking video footage has captured the moment a man in a high-vis shirt pinned another man to the ground, punching him at a set of traffic lights in Mackay.
The altercation allegedly began after the man on the ground tailgated the tradie.
There was a brief verbal exchange between the pair before the tradie landed a punch on the man’s face.
A bystander can be heard encouraging the fight, yelling “Get him, get the c***”
The tradie was filmed seen holding the driver on the ground and delivering several blows to his head. The man can be seen attempting to keep the tradie at a distance by holding his foot up against him.
The video also showed a baseball bat, which was reportedly grabbed from a car by one of the men before being dropped.
According to a survey conducted by Finder, 73 per cent of Australian drivers have been the victims of a road rage incident.
Tailgating is the number one offence most likely to be experienced behind the wheel (49 per cent), followed by another driver blasting their horn (42 per cent).
Around 1 in 3 drivers (32 per cent) have been subjected to verbal abuse on the road, with that same number (32 per cent) purposely cut off by another driver.
Another study into road rage in Australia revealed motorists in Fremantle (WA) and Mackay had the most incidents in the country.
Sentiment analysis tool TensiStrength found drivers in Mackay were also behind 72.7 per cent of driving-related rage posted to social media.
Behind it was Parramatta in NSW, Darwin in the Northern Territory, Wagga Wagga in NSW, Brisbane in Queensland, Byron Bay in NSW, Bendigo and Ballarat in Victoria, and Townsville in Queensland.
Seven out of the top ten roads that caused the most stress were also in Western Australia, with Perth’s Reid Highway, Leach Highway and Welshpool Road scoring 100 per cent for stressful tweets.
Behind them were WA’s Kwinana Freeway, Roe Highway, Tonkin Highway and the Mitchell Freeway, with the latter only over taken by Victoria’s Nepean Highway.
Earlier this year, a video of a tradie’s ute being rear-ended moments after he brake-checked a driver went viral.
Dashcam footage captured the ugly road rage clash on the Pacific Highway in Greenwich, Sydney, around midday.
The clip begins with one driver being angrily honked at from behind as he sits in the right lane at a set of traffic lights.
The honking continues as the dashcam driver moves on from the lights before a white work ute overtakes.
The ute veers back in front and aggressively hits the skids.
The driver with the dashcam cannot stop in time as the ute’s tray scrapes up its bonnet.
Two tradies emerge peacocking from the work ute as the car driver behind yells, “I can’t believe you did that, mate. Why did you do that for? (sic)”
“You didn’t give me any time (to stop) man.”
One of the aggressive tradies demands the drivers’ licence, presumably for insurance purposes, shortly before the video cuts out.
