Jetstar sale: Flights from $239 from Australia to Japan in epic five-day sale

Budget airline Jetstar Australia has released 30,000 reduced fares flying directly from Australian to Japan, with one-way tickets under $350, with some routes as little as $239.

The tickets went on sale as of Thursday, May 30, and will be available for five days until Tuesday, June 4, unless sold out prior.

Fares included include travel dates between June to mid-September 2024, and late January to early April 2025, however the exact dates will vary depending on the route.

The departure flights depart direct from Cairns, Brisbane and Sydney, however travellers from other states can still take advantage of the deal via a connecting sale fare from Melbourne (Tullamarine), Adelaide and the Gold Coast.

Flights to Osaka will land at the Kansai International Airport, while flights at Tokyo will arrive at the Narita International Airport.

Travellers can access even further reduced fares, with the cheapest being a $225 routie from Cairns to Osaka (Kansai), if they are, or choose to become a Club Jetstar member.

The discount fares, comes amid a low-performing Japanese yen and a global uptick in international tourists.

For the first time in more than 10 years, the Japanese yen has recorded historic lows against most currencies, with one Australian dollar currently buying 104.19 JPY.

Jetstar recorded a 35 per cent jump in passengers travelling to Japan in 2023, compared to post 2019. The airline said that number was expected to grow with the launch of more scheduled flight between the two countries.

Globally, the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) recorded a 69.5 per cent year-on-year increase in the Asian country as of March 2024, with 3,081,600 visitors in a single month.
