NBA live 2022: Ben Simmons return, start time, live scores, updates

Ben Simmons’ return to Philadelphia will be missing one giant element — former-teammate-turned-foe Joel Embiid.

The Cameroonian big man will miss the next two games for the 76ers with a left mid-foot strain, the club announced Monday.

Embiid, along with coach Doc Rivers, famously called out Simmons following a 2021 playoff defeat, the beginning of the end for the Aussie’s time in Philly.

Simmons hasn’t played against the 76ers in Philly since the bitter standoff with the franchise that led to him being traded to Brooklyn last September.

Simmons doesn’t expect the 76ers faithful to forget about his controversial departure when the Nets return from 11.30am AEDT.

“I know what is coming and that is part of the game,“ he said.

“The one thing about Philly fans is that they are incredible. They are diehard Philly in everything and whatever it is.

“I respect that about the city — it is a sports town.

“I’m excited to go and play. I haven’t had the opportunity to play there, so it will be a great experience.”
