North Lakes home invasion: Woman killed, two on the run

A woman has died and her partner suffered non-life-threatening injuries after an alleged home invasion in Queensland’s Moreton Bay region, north of Brisbane, on Boxing Day.

Police say they were called to an address at Whitfield Crescent in North Lakes after an scuffle broke out on the front porch between two alleged intruders and the residents of the home about 11.30pm.

A 41-year-old woman who lived at the home died from a chest injury, while a 43-year-old man survived with a wound to his back.

The alleged offenders fled the scene on foot, according to a Queensland Police spokesman.

“Police have commenced a homicide investigation after an incident in North Lakes late last night,” he said.

“Investigators urge anyone from the North Lakes area with information, dashcam or CCTV footage to contact police.”

A crime scene has been established at the house.

On Tuesday morning, a Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed four males have been brought in for questioning over the alleged incident.

They are assisting police with their inquiries and no charges have been laid.

Earlier on Boxing Day, a 30-year-old man was charged with murder after a 55-year-old man was allegedly killed in a hit and run in the town of Millerman, near Toowoomba.

Police will allege the driver “deliberately” crashed his car into the Commens St house before fleeing – leaving his alleged victim to die.

He is expected to face the Toowoomba Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
